Crystal Dynamics confirms two new projects in development

Crystal Dynamics head Darrell Gallagher (inset) remains mum on the details of the studio’s current efforts — “efforts” being two new projects in development. We’re left to guess if Lara’s next expedition could be one of them, but the answer’s rather obvious, and Darrell might as well have explicitly stated it outright.
Speaking to Gamasutra on Crystal Dynamics’ plans of action post-Square Enix take-over, Gallagher shares that the team has been actively making efforts toward innovating in games.
“For us it’s important that we take risks as we innovate. We’ve been wanting to create an environment where innovation and risks are approached. Personally, I think the way to push that benchmark is have the belief and the conviction and ambition to achieve that goal. We have a clear vision of where we want to go, and we’re really pushing some bold decisions in terms of taking those next steps.”
While all this talk of innovation and having a clear vision sounds very encouraging, it still isn’t clear if the team is gearing towards this newly set goal for the next ‘Raider title. However, Darrell clears it out quite succinctly: Tomb Raider is indeed still a priority project for the team.
“What I can say is Tomb Raider, as a franchise, is absolutely part of the Crystal fabric. It’s a key franchise and awesome to be part of… we’re excited about what we’ve been exploring, and we’re excited to share it with the fans at some point.”
Quadruple that excitement for the receiving end, then. More through the Gama jump.
